Trees

My mom and I have been transfixed with this necklace ever since it was given to me a couple of weeks ago. On the front it has the date of the Clean Water act, which was created to save the Earth's waters from being polluted by toxins man has made, and on the back it said Nature = Future. Whats also really cool about it is that part of the proceeds from the necklace goes towards the Gulf Coast fund. But truthfully, I just love looking at it. Its such a simple design and yet so beautiful. One of my favorite pieces right now.

Oh and this lace thing? Its been on loan from my aunt for about a year and I finally pulled it out the other day. Now its my go-to summer piece for just throwing on when you walk out the door.

Roses Are White

I dont know how many times Ive said it on this blog but, I love roses. When this rose jumper came out I thought it looked like a big white marshmellow or the Michelin Man. However, when I was up in Oregon for the fourth visiting my family/friends I got to see this baby on and in real life. Long story short, it was incredible.

These Marc by Marc Jacobs heels are the best heels purchase ever, hands down. I bought them two years ago, and they have proven to be so useful over the years. Their heel height makes them wearable for everyday and everyone who sees them has to stop and admire, like theyre some sort of miniature schnauzer or something.

Slowly Catching Up

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Ive been making a lot of promises to myself this summer that I would read more, write more, draw more, work out more, play piano more etc. etc.
I guess I gotta get off the internet to do that... hmm.

I know this dress looks strikingly similar to one I wore recently. Guess all we can gather from that is either 1) I like boat prints or 2) you should go buy boat prints. Who knows.

Oh and I did an interview recently for the people who gave me the dress, check it out here.

The Jazz Age

The 1920s is one of my favorite time periods, if not my absolute favorite. I love the art deco movement that was happening at the time... and the flapper clothing, silks, chiffons, beads, dropwaist dresses, and short curly cuts that most women were sporting.
Photobucket
My aunt gifted me with this rose pink tie dye romper and told me it was from the 20s... I was completely blown away and utterly overjoyed. It is one of the most beautiful pieces I own, so romantic, and perfect for the hot hot summer days that LA is experiencing currently.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
I tried to play up the 20s factor by adding the jazz shoes that American Apparel sent me.

P.S. GO SEE INCEPTION.

Ports 1961

A couple weeks ago I was invited to a press event for their Pre-Spring collection at the store Ports 1961 on Melrose Place. I dont normally attend that type of thing, but I was familiar with the brand and it was a chance to see my good friend Kim, who works in Public Relations. I had met her when I interned at Chip & Pepper denim and that was over a year ago, so of course I had go.
Photobucket
The store is incredibly beautiful. As you might imagine, there really is a big difference from seeing the clothes on the runway/in photos and then actually holding them in your hands. Tia Cibani, the creative director at Ports, is pretty much a genius. She uses materials from all around the world and the pre-spring collection is travel inspired for the girl on the go.

There were so many beautifully constructed leather pieces, as shown above and below.

Cibani also creates stunning variations on the little black dress.

Kim is holding a rose colored ribbon thing, and it turns out that its actually a scarf. It was so incredible I had to buy it. Ill show more later.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
I loved this silk pattern on a couple of the garments.
Photobucket
These flats were made out of the strangest and best material Ive seen.

The designer also likes to take simple things, like the plain white tee, and add little details that make it unexpected and refreshing.
PhotobucketPhotobucket
The event also had live models showcasing some of the pieces. These were just a few shown. (Peek the back metal detailing of the black leather dress. So fantastic.)

In short, everything was beautifully executed and meticulously designed. I am in love with Ports 1961. Thanks for inviting me Kim and so nice to see you again! Check out more here and here.

I wore this after I flew on a trapeze today, hence the messy hair.

I saw Flo, from the All State commercials, at a comedy show I went to on Friday night with my cousin. It was one of the highlights of my week, among others that Ill talk about later. Until then... watch this and this.

Sinnerman

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
Ive been listening to Nina Simone like mad lately. I love her voice. As they say, she's got "soul." Check her out if you get the chance.

Two things are for certain with this outfit,
1) Im crazy for American Apparel
and
2) I am in love with crop tops and high waisted shorts

Hope you all had a lovely fourth of July!

The Birds

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
I think Ive said it before but... I love the desert. These photos were taken on the drive back from Vegas on Monday. I'll miss that city.

Im watching Bullets Over Broadway, a Woody Allen movie. The last time I watched this movie was four years ago and immediately afterward I declared it was my most favorite of all time... and then promptly never saw it again. However, here we are. Im super happy to be seeing my "favorite movie of all time" once more.
